I am not sure if they have tours in English or they have a translator available but you should call and ask. The tour was given in Spanish and lasted around 1:45-2hrs. She talked about how people lived around the river, how she was born and raise there, and how she learned the ins an outs of the River. She explained the history of the River, showed us certain species that live there now. This is a family operated tour, and the river area is now a Natural Reserve so her insights were very special. It is a relaxing experience and Evelyn and her crew were very informative and entertaining too. Wow! Please check that you have enough batteries or memory space in your camera before getting in the boat! ![]() Real! Well, there are no crocodiles but they did see many birds and iguanas among others, and once you get to the Ocean. As one of my nephews said, this is like the Jungle Cruise in Disney but. Ironic, we were in a River, just flowing. As she said when we began our trip "Thank you Lord for the Road blocks in San Juan as this family is now here with us". A couple of hours later we were on our way through Rio Espíritu Santo. Advance reservations are required so I know we were lucky. Evelyn, the tour operator answered the phone and was super accommodating. ![]() I remembered I saw "La Paseadora" signs on my way to El Yunque on a previous trip and decided to call and arrange a last minute trip with my group (17 people!). We had a family field trip to Old San Juan planned that day, but other activities in the area forced us to cancel. I live in Puerto Rico, but my sisters and their families live in the States. The boat tour requires a group of 10 so please call ahead and make reservations (78) or email at: This is a new business so please check them out. They also offer a 2 hour motorized boat tour of the river for those who prefer a motor to paddling. When we returned from our paddle they were kind enough to share freshly fried plaintains and dipping sauce with us-just the right snack in Puerto Rico after a good paddle. We did get caught in 2 downpours but the weather was warm so it was fine and the rental people gave us a huge Ziploc to put the camera into "just in case". BTW the current is fairly mild so it is not a difficult paddle but you do notice there is a current by the time you return. The entire trip was about 4.5 miles and was accented by many water birds-herons, kingfishers and ducks- and also the game of "can you spot the iguana in the tree" kept us occupied as we headed back upstream from the ocean. We started out heading upriver to the small waterfall then back downriver about 2.5 miles to the ocean. The people who helped us were awesome and very helpful. We had a great time kayaking the Rio Espiritu Santo with a two person kayak rented from La Paseadora. ![]()
